A new retail park featuring an M&S Foodhall that is set to create up to 200 jobs has been proposed for Stowmarket.

Residents are being consulted by Location 3 Properties Ltd on plans to deliver a new retail park and trading estate on land on Tomo Road and Gun Cotton Way.

The development is east of Tomo Road Business Park and would consist of three retail stores alongside M&S Foodhall which has already signed up to take space.

On the consultation website, Location 3 Properties Ltd wrote: "The plans will bring new names and employers to Stowmarket, provide more retail choice for Stowmarket residents and represent a significant investment in the local area.

"M&S wants to open a brand-new Foodhall in Stowmarket, as part of the development on land on Tomo Road and Gun Cotton Way."

There will be 238 car parking spaces at the retail park, including disabled, EV charging spaces and parents and child spaces. 

The website describe the layout of the proposed development which is set back from Tomo Road Business Park.

A consultation is now open for residents to give their views and learn more about the proposed designs.

The website reads there are plans to submit the planning application in autumn 2023, with hopes to begin work on the sitein 2024.

According to the designs the proposed retail units are of "simple, rectangular form" with a modern appearance. 

The layout of the site will then allow for a spacious car parking for customers to the front of the store.

The proposals also incorporate extensive tree planting to the north of the site on the boundary with Gun Cotton Way.  

Location 3 Properties Ltd wrote: "Overall, the proposed retail units are of a modern attractive high quality design incorporating extensive sustainability and energy reduction measures consistent with the design and sustainability policies of the Local Plan."
