A man from Derbyshire has completed his mission to visit every Wetherspoon pub in the United Kingdom - and believes one in Suffolk was among the best.

David Bingham has visited all 875 of the UK's Wetherspoon in his quest to try the pints at every pub.

After sampling all of Suffolk's locations, he named the Corn Exchange in Bury St Edmunds as one of the best in the country.

Stowmarket Mercury:

Mr Bingham said: "One of my favourite Wetherspoons is the one in Bury St Edmunds.

"The Corn Exchange is a beautiful building, my partner loved it as well. All the glass makes it a lovely space, and the upstairs is spectacular.

"If it wasn't a Wetherspoons, what would it be doing? It would be rotting away and no one would be enjoying it.

"This was one of my driving forces for the journey, as the pub chain is saving so many fantastic buildings that we can keep visiting".

Mr Bingham also mentioned The Willow Tree in Stowmarket, which he described as a "nice pub in a great setting".

The 60-year-old, from West Hallam, Derbyshire, came up with his challenge after his partner Una Cooper, 63, bought him a £3 Wetherspoon directory off eBay.

The couple took it to their local branch in Ilkeston, when Mr Bingham decided to visit every single one on the list.

Mr Bingham's other favourites were the Royal Victoria Pavilion in Kent, the Winter Gardens in Harrogate and the Caley Picture House in Edinburgh.
