Around 150 people gathered at the Mid Suffolk Light Railway Museum on New Year’s Day to enjoy an afternoon of steam engine fun.
The Middy – Suffolk’s only standard gauge steam railway – has been running steam trains on a 400-metre stretch of track at Wetheringsett since 2002.
And on Thursday, families young and old hopped on board during the New Year Steaming event.
John Stark, vice chairman of trustees at the Mid Suffolk Light Railway Museum, said: “Despite it being a bit overcast, just over 150 people came along to blow out the cobwebs and it was a really good day.
“It was very pleasant to see a lot of families turning up to enjoy a couple of rides on a vintage steam railway.
He added: “We will be carrying out repair work during January, February and March before re-opening. In the summer, we will be open every Sunday in June, July and August.
“We won best Suffolk museum last year and hope to carry on the good work which won that accolade.”
