The family of a 19-year-old Suffolk man who died while at university have donated a £6,000 cheque to Ipswich Hospital’s diabetes team.
Robbie Warner, who lived in Stowupland, was found dead in his room at the University of Northampton on February 5.
The money was donated following a day to remember Robbie, which took place in July.
The proceeds will be used to not only benefit the hospital’s diabetes inpatient care and education project, but to help other hospitals across the country get their own fully functional diabetes inpatient centres.
Tests following Robbie’s death showed he had died from undiagnosed diabetes.
The ‘four Ts’, toilet (needing to go to the toilet a lot), thirst (not being able to quench thirst), tired (feeling more tired than usual) and thinner (looking thinner than usual) are all signs of having diabetes.
Justin Warner, Robbie’s father, said: “To get that much money on his behalf was quite something. I’ll never forget him.”
