Former England opening batsman Nick Knight praised Woolpit Cricket Club after opening their new pavilion extension.
Knight declared the new £152,000 extension officially open prior to Suffolk’s Unicorns Trophy fixture versus Bedfordshire – the first full county match to be held at the ground – on Sunday.
Knight said: “It is a great honour to be here. My lad plays here and I come along on a Friday night and see first-hand what the club does.
“There are smiles on everyone’s faces because they are enjoying themselves – it is packed with youngsters who are being put through their paces by the coaches.
“I have been coming here for a few years now and you can’t help but be impressed by the set up and how the club has progressed.
“It is a great day for the club to not only open the pavilion extension but also to stage their first county match.”
