Drivers are set to face more delays as roadworks take place across Suffolk this week. 

Here are five sets of works people should be aware of.

St Edmunds Hill, Bures

Drivers will face a 27-mile diversion route while St Edmunds Hill, between Bures and Sudbury, is closed on Saturday.

The road will be closed between 8am and 1pm. 

According to the Suffolk County Council website the official diversion route is 27 miles long.  

Whepstead Road, Horringer

Whepstead Road in Horringer will be closed between 7am and 1pm on Sunday while Openreach carries out urgent works. 

While the road is closed a 25-mile diversion route will be in place which is expected to add on around an hour to people's journeys. 

The Street, Witnesham 

The Street in Witnesham, near Ipswich, will be closed from Tuesday to Thursday while Anglian Water carries out urgent roadworks. 

While the closure is in place, a six-mile diversion route will be in place. 

Penzance Road, Kesgrave 

The road will be closed near to the junction with Bell lane between 9.30am to 3pm from Tuesday until April 20 while Suffolk Highways carries out urgent roadworks. 

A short diversion route will be in place while works take place. 

Wells Hall Road, Great Cornard

Wells Hall Road in Great Cornard, near Sudbury, will be closed from Tuesday until Thursday while Anglian Water carries out essential work

Thomas Gainsborough School and Wells Hall Primary School are located down the road. 

The road will be closed near to the Black House Lane turn-off so the schools will still be accessed from Head Lane.
