A Suffolk high school is to remain closed for a second day due to having no hot water.

Stowmarket High School, in Onehouse Road, was shut on Monday after it was discovered it had no hot water or heating.

The school will remain closed on Tuesday while attempts to fix the problems remain ongoing.

Headteacher Lucie Hernandez said: "Unfortunately, after liaison with our Trust, we have been forced to make the decision to close the school tomorrow.

"We are still experiencing difficulties with our water supply, specifically hot water.

"Whilst closing the school is the last thing we wish to do, we have taken guidance from the following sources, as well as contacting both the Department for Education and Public Health England.

"We are endeavouring to fix this issue immediately, ensuring we can attempt to secure a full school opening from Wednesday April 24. In doing so, we currently have contractors and engineers, in school, tackling the issue, including sourcing relevant parts."
