A Suffolk estate is set to host a star gazing evening which will be raising funds in aid of a charity for young creatives.

Kenton Hall Estate near Debenham will be holding the event - the second of its kind - from 8pm on Friday, February 2.

Tickets cost £10 a person and include a cup of hot chocolate and marshmallows. All proceeds will go to the Alfie Carpenter Fund which was set up in memory of a young artist from Debenham who died last year and whose father, Mike, runs the Spiral Gallery.

The evening will be hosted by astronomer Tom Boles, president of the British Astronomy Association.

Tom has more than 50 years of experience with stars and galaxies and has discovered a record number of supernovae. A main-belt asteroid 7648 Tomboles is named after him.

Stowmarket Mercury:

"Expect to see different constellations, learn about the mythology of the night sky and hopefully see some shooting stars.

"We want this to be as accessible to as many people as possible and would love to see many faces here again."

Stargazers should bring warm clothing, a chair (essential), a torch, practical footwear, binoculars and/or a telescope. For more information, visit the Kenton Hall website.
