A well known author, community heroes, education champions and a stalwart poppy seller are among those from Suffolk who have been recognised on the King's New Year's Honours list.

Ninety-seven-year-old Jill Gladwell, from Stowmarket, is the oldest recipient in this year's list, having been made an MBE for her services to the Royal British Legion.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Suffolk Clare, Countess of Euston, said: “Heartfelt congratulations to all those who have been recognised in this year's New Year Honours List.  All those of us who live in Suffolk are immensely proud of you and I would like to thank you on behalf of us all for everything you have done for communities and individuals across the county.”
